Frequently Asked Questions for small group tutoring

Please reach us at stephanie@adjusttheangle.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

What’s different about small group math tutoring?
Our small group sessions create a supportive, low-stakes environment where kids can explore math without the pressure of grades. These aren’t just tutoring sessions—they're opportunities to discover, take risks, and even practice failing (yes, that’s part of learning!). We focus on building confidence, resilience, and flexible thinking through collaborative problem-solving. Plus, they’re more affordable than 1:1 sessions and offer the added bonus of peer interaction. Got a friend who might benefit too? Bring them along—learning is better together!

Where are the small group sessions held?
Our small group sessions take place at Vector Brewing, a lively, kid-friendly space that helps take the pressure off traditional learning. No desks, no silence—just a relaxed environment where kids can explore math with curiosity and confidence. While we don’t provide snacks or meals during sessions, the focus is all on making math feel approachable, engaging, and even fun!

What ages are allowed to join the small groups?
Our small group sessions are designed for kids in 3rd through 7th grade, and all ability levels are welcome! Because the focus is on discovery, collaboration, and big-picture thinking, exact grade level isn’t as important as you might expect. Think of it like working on a giant jigsaw puzzle together—we each bring different pieces to the table. These sessions are all about exploring patterns, asking questions, and making sense of math beyond memorized facts. Let’s get curious and start noticing and wondering—together!

Do you also do private 1:1 tutoring for math? What grades?
Yes! I offer private 1:1 math tutoring for students in grades K–9. Schedule here. Each session is customized to support your child’s unique learning needs—whether they’re building foundational skills, closing gaps, or tackling advanced concepts. I specialize in working with students who have learning differences, disabilities, or academic disruptions, focusing on making sure math makes sense conceptually in addition to the grade level goals for each student.
